Sensitivity reading

Some books include possibly problematic content — which is why sensitivity readers are so vital! While I'm not qualified to give sensitivity reads for certain perspectives, here are some representation I can help out with:

Looking for feedback on one of your last drafts? Professional beta readers can address issues like:

  • Possibly problematic content
  • Continuity errors
  • Hyping up your story
  • Development recommendations 

Note: This does not include line editing, but may include minor edit recommendations. This should be done in the second to last draft, or so, NOT in your first or second draft. An "Alpha" reader is a better fit for earlier, unedited works.

I currently do not offer services for manuscripts over 130k words. Every potential client will have a 1000 word sample edit (this is required). A deposite of 50% will be required to reserve the service. 

For the sensitivity read, you're welcome to send sections/chapters, which will be price independently. 

CTRL F Search

Oh, the dreaded CTRL F game! Nothing causes a wince more than realizing how often the word "just" or "and" is used!

I'll be using my own prepared list, as well as any list you offer, to find/delete phrases or words. 

This service does not include line editing. If I catch something, I'll leave an edit or recommendation, but this is considered a "light" line edit.

This level of editing is as granular as it comes! Every sentence will be examined for clarity, structure, and extraneous words. Here are some things to expect:

  • Examination of sentences to find echoes, repeated words and phrases.
  • Restructuring recommendations
  • Missing context recommendations
  • Finding grammar and punctuation errors
  • Commentary for things to think about

Editing

Note: this service is for serious authors only. While I will do *everything* in my power to give feedback respectfully, I reserve the right to terminate services with overly defensive authors that struggle to grasp all works can be improved. Egos and writing are like oil and water — so please only reach out if you're excited to be pushed into the best you can be.

Cost: $200 a month (3 month minimum)
